We need your help in bringing awareness to the many issues related to alcohol
and other drug use. We want to create a louder, stronger, centralized voice in
support of improving Vermont’s system of Prevention, Intervention, Treatment,
Enforcement and Recovery.
What does your membership pay for?
- Legislative Updates and Alerts by e-mail.
- Opportunities to network with others and work together on policies to increase penalties for drunk driving, alcohol tax, minimum legal drinking age and more.
- Opportunities to learn from advocacy experts who have worked on alcohol and drug policies.
- An opportunity to be part of a substance abuse prevention, treatment, recovery awareness day
in April.
Why Advocacy for Substance Abuse issues is more important than ever!
- Marijuana Dispensaries and Decriminalization
Legislation on these issues will mean big changes and have a huge impact on Vermonters. It is
important that the voice of substance abuse experts is heard.
- Minimum Legal Drinking Age
The Vermont Senate voted to recommend that changing the minimum legal drinking age to 18
not to be tied to federal highway funds. Our members have taken part in educating the legislature and the public. Research and expert opinions from the field supporting the current MLDA must be part of this ongoing debate.
- Sustainability
Funding for Prevention, Intervention, Treatment, Enforcement and Recovery has already been
impacted by the budget and future cuts are likely. With advocacy, we can publicly tout the benefits of our services and the monetary and human expense of NOT having the services in place.
Your annual contribution of only $50 will help raise awareness about issues essential to the
health and well-being of Vermonters. We support and inform policy makers to create policies
that support community health and evidence based practices. Your voice is crucial in making
these very important decisions.
Your membership entitles you to one vote (per organization) at all meetings.
Monthly meetings are held the fourth Wednesday in Montpelier.
